- American Ceramic Society has published its edition of the ceramic Source 1997 which is a buyer's guide to the ceramic marketplace. - The Machinery Dealers National Association has published more a book of serial numbers for machine tools. The book contains a directory with addresses and phone numbers for hundreds of US and foreign machinery manufacturers. Text also gives details of mergers and reorganizations of companies in the machine tool business. The MDNA also released it latest edition of its Used Machinery Buyer's Guide. - The American Welding Society and the Welding Equipment Manufacturer's Association have combined efforts and an new AWS Welding Equipment Manufacturer's Committee was created at joint meeting in Dallas earlier this year.
- Dynabrade has announced it Virtu_Finisher for superfinishing cylindrical parts on standard lathers or roll gridning equipment. The machine is designed to use microfinishing films (coated abrasive products manufactured by 3M, Moyco, or Mypox.

- Milacron will be producing BP Oil Deutchland GmbHs metalworking fluid in a BP Plant in Freibrug, Germany. This venture is the second Milacron expansion in Germany. Milacron acquired the German Manufacturer Widia, a maker of carbide cutting tools.
